The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reported that currency in circulation dipped by 0.2% on the week to stand at Rs 33.49 lakh crore as on December 1, 2023. The central bank stated further that the overall reserve money stayed almost unchanged on the week to Rs 44.25 lakh crore. Currency in circulation rose 4% on a year ago basis compared to 8% growth at the same time last year. In the current fiscal, the currency in circulation has contracted by 0.8% so far while the reserve money has edged up by 0.9%.
